Let's hope the 250th Anniversary is not, in fact, the coda to American democracy. The majority of French, German, and British already think Trump is a dictator, according to one poll. https://www.brusselstimes.com/belgium/1478548/majority-of-french-germans-and-british-think-trump-is-a-dictator I'm inclined to agree with them.

Quite chilling, Angus. I want to hear more. You are seeing—and will see more—my new direction. I always think to myself: What are we fighting for? What are we fighting against? And how do we fight the fight? I am now moving predominantly towards "What are we fighting for?" That is why I am focussing on the lessons of history and, specifically, a nonpartisan, unifying America 250. Think of it, in the words of Lincoln, as "the last best hope."

My take is we need our Paul Revere moment to rally patriots to defend the country. America seems to be sleep walking into fascism with nary a complaint. Perhaps it is because we are experiencing the world’s first digital coup where Musk and Trump are firing government workers and locking them out of buildings using computers, rather than guns and force. I always thought the foundation of American democracy was rotten, like a termite infested building that looks just fine from the outside, but I never expected the collapse to be so fast and complete.
