Love the hopeful, upbeat message at the end, Eli. Dark times right now, but it's helpful to think that the future might be brighter -- or, at least, less dark. I, too, worry about the coming violence.

It’s hard to find that optimistic, upbeat inner child, Pete. I think I write short pieces like this precisely to help me find it. Then I pass it along, because, as the famous poet said, hope springs eternal.

This desire for a uni-party and allegiance to the one party has great historical precedence. It worked so well in Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, Cuba, et al! I think you summarized succinctly the Democrat party's approach to governing. Thanks for your lucid explanation of the Democrat party's goal and its adherents' feelings.

Good to hear. Sorry if I misunderstood. My belief is that we must have ethical political parties that at least put country and Constitution above profit and partisanship. I hope the Republican Party can find its way back to this. I think that is improbable. So I look forward to the rise of an ethical Conservative Party under the leadership of someone like Liz Cheney. I would deplore one party liberal rule as much as you would!
